"la libertad nos une, la unión nos libera" Ibn Arabi, Murcia S XII _"Freedom unites us, unity frees us"

ENGLISH

Who are in Acampada de Barcelona?

We have come here voluntarily and by free will. After the 15th of May demonstrations we have decided to remain united and grow in numbers on our fight for dignity. We do not represent any political party and they do not represent us.
We are united on our rage, our discomfort, our precarious life which is derived by inequality but, above all, what keeps us together is our will for change. We are here because we want a new society that puts our life on top any political or economic interest. We feel crushed by the capitalist economy, we feel excluded from the present political system which does not represent us. We are striking for a radical change in society. And, above all, we aim at keeping society as the sole driver of this transformation.
They thought we were asleep. They thought they could carry on cutting our rights without finding any resistance. But they were wrong: we are fighting – peacefully, but with determination – for the life we deserve.
We have learned from Cairo, Iceland and Madrid.
Now it's time to extend the fight and spread the word.

 disReality

“You are asleep, and your vision is a dream; all you are see is an illusion.”
 Mahmud Shabistari. Persia. SXIII

“The sleep of our era is not a good sleep that provides rest. It is an anxious sleep that leaves you feeling even more worn out (...) There is a narcosis that begs for an even deeper narcosis. Those who, by luck or misfortune, awaken from the prescribed sleep, come into this world like lost children.” (3)

A sleep that turns everything it touches into images. A sleep based on image as a veil, as as a social instrument of blindness. Sure enough, a veil of mass produced images spreads out, covering the entire field of vision, like a master film, a screen-world with a flexible, ever-changing reality that clings to the skin of objects, people and landscapes. Not like a patchwork of handcrafted images, personal visions, dreams, imaginations or ruins of former imaginaries... sprinkled with gaps, inaccuracies that invite vision and imagination. Rather, a visible “all,” fuelled by the realities it conceals.

Thus we find a kind of questioning of reality that is directly political: the observation of the expansion of a dominant reality that threatens the fabric of other realities; that threatens to erase forms of knowledge, landscapes, people, ways of life, feelings... As if a thousand libraries of Alexandria, still inscribed in people’s daily lives, in their actions, in their spaces, were already burning once again. As if, perhaps within a very short space of time, all that will remain to read, with luck, will be their sad ashes catalogued by experts.

There has never been such an intense and extensive expansion of a dominant reality as that of global capitalism, or, in consequence, a comparable resistance or refusal. In fact, this dominant reality is already “the” reality; a reality that has the consistency of a “beached jellyfish,” a gelatinous mass that covers any surface, filling any crack. In the face of this, “Only the total refusal of reality reveals it to us in its reality, reveals it to us in its truth.” (4) A reality that disrealizes us: a disreality.

BCN TOURISTS

Hey, thanks for your concern, enjoying your visit to Barcelona? We hope you do but maybe you would like to know some things we have in our country nowadays, not pretty things and the reason why we are here now, and many people in other cities of Spain are doing the same, not officially as a continue of the 15th of May protests or simply something improvised. We want you to know that and bring that information to your home, you can also collaborate bringing that information sheet to your hotel or friends and not throwing it to the bin!

Did you know that… with all the money that fly away to fiscal paradises every year from our country the pensions to retired people could be raised on an 80%
… with a month of salary of Mr Rajoy (president of the PP party) a retired with 4 kids could live two years and a half
… the decontrol is that big that nobody (person or institution) knows how many politicians are drawing from the state
…a normal worker needs to demonstrate 35 years of work for getting the maximum retirement pension. A politician needs only 7.
…the retention from the salary of a politician is only the 4.5%
…the people in Spain pays the traffic fines of their politicians
…Zapatero is the only president of the EU that charges his holidays to the public budgets
…there is no information anywhere of job absenteeism in politicians (and we know they do)
…the deputies can use trains, boats and planes charging the cost to the public budget, and they have 5 MILLION€ every year for  that
…the politicians are the only that can draw two public salaries at the same time. For normal people this is banned by law
…the Spanish congress spend every year 160.000€ in Christmas presents, and 11000 public posts get presents in 2.2 MILLION €
…every Spanish owes 566€ to the banks because of the debts of the city councils
…deputies that don’t live in Madrid get also a 1823€ monthly extra pay for hosing and moving. The locals get 870€ a month out of taxes. This equals to the salary of 12 MILLION people
…since a near time ago every eurodeputie could waste 17000€ per month for contracting relatives. Most of them introduced their couples or brothers-in-law
…the politicians use official cars for private issues: the Rioja government (the smallest of our country) wasted 200000€ in extra pays in 2008, and the official cars were used during 870000 kilometers (crossing Spain from west to east 4 and a half times).
…a politician from any autonomic community will get 45000€ per year when retired. A normal person can’t get more than 32000€ by law
…there’s no legal limit for representation eatings (lunch, dinner…) for a Spanish
